I-CORE sponsors graduate student-led Genomics conference

The 3rd Graduate Students Conference on Genetics, Genomics and Evolution took place at the Technion on Sept. 8, 2014. Co-organized by I-CORE Gene Regulation in Complex Human Disease members Prof. Karen Avraham and Prof. Erez Levanon, the conference was attended by 80 graduate students, post-doctoral fellows and faculty. The three scientific sessions were split into genomics and evolution, genomics of non-human species, and human genetics and genetics disorders, with 16 talks and a highly interactive poster session. Topics ranged from chromatin dynamics, genome-wide transcriptional elongation rates, identification of functional introns, cardiac hypertrophy, human laminopathies, and myotonic dystrophy. Three students were awarded best lecture and poster prizes to attend international scientific conferences in the future.
