I-CORE Gene Regulation in Complex Human Disease sponsors the 2014 Annual Meeting of the Israeli Forum for Genome Stability (IGSM2014)

IGSM2014 took place at the Sackler School of Medicine at Tel Aviv University on April 10. This was the 5th in a series of one-day meetings that bring together researchers interested in the mechanisms that maintain genomic stability. A complex signaling network responds to DNA damage and maintains the genome’s integrity in the face of constant attack by DNA damaging agents and errors in DNA metabolism. Investigation of this network is central to understanding the genetic genomic instability disorders, cancer development and progression, and many chronic diseases, as well as for refining cancer treatment modalities. An assembly of 150 investigators heard a keynote lecture given by Prof. Daniel Durocher of the University of Toronto. This was followed by 10 talks that were selected from submitted abstracts, and a poster session that boasted an extensive array of posters. The prizes for the best posters, supported by I-CORE, were awarded to Daniel Dovrat (Ben-Gurion University), Hanan Khoury (Technion) and Michal Meir (Tel Aviv University).
